Discipline is What Carries the Dream
Do you ever ask yourself, “Why do I keep getting in my own way?”

I do.
Most of us have a clear sense of what we want to achieve in life. I know I do. I can see it. I believe it can happen. I believe it will happen.
What I do not always understand is why I have not made the progress I thought I would by now.
I have goals for this year and the next five years. They matter to me. They are meaningful.
I don’t want wealth for appearances; I want financial freedom. I want to solve problems, create options, and help others do the same whenever I can.
I know I have the intelligence, life experience, street smarts, and capability to create meaningful success. So why does progress sometimes feel slower, harder, and messier than I expected?
Am I getting in my own way?
Am I the one holding myself back?
Or is this simply what the path looks like when the goal really matters?
The ups and downs.
The interruptions.
The doubts.
The fears.
The constant questioning.
This is the part no one talks about enough.
You can be fully capable and still delay your own progress. You can want something deeply and still hesitate. You can know what to do and still consistently resist doing it.
That is where discipline comes in.
When the Goal Matters Enough
There have been times in my life when I have been so determined to achieve a goal that nothing stood in my way.
I remember setting a goal to own my own home after years in the rental market as a single mum raising two children. I decided enough was enough and committed to achieving that dream within three years. It became my focus. It shaped my decisions. It influenced how I lived, what I prioritised, and what I was willing to sacrifice.
The day I signed the paperwork and became a homeowner was one of the proudest moments of my life.
Later, I set another goal: to complete an MBA while working full-time, despite not having finished high school.
I have done hard things before.
That’s why I believe that when a goal becomes truly important, you will find a way.
You stop negotiating with yourself.
You stop waiting to feel ready.
You stop making excuses sound reasonable.
You decide.
